One man's inspirational journey of discovery
Born to Win
The producer of Faith Like Potatoes and the producer of Klein Karoo teamed up and are proud to announce the opening of their new movie ‘Born To Win’ based on the true story of Leon Terblanche, directed by Frans Cronjé. This dynamic team managed to stretch the R4 million budget to look bigger than many R10 to R20 million productions. They have also managed to secure an American cinema release and will announce details soon.
‘Born To Win’ is based on the true story of Leon Terblanche, who found himself confronted with the question: “Where is God?” This sets him on a journey where he discovers that he has never been alone through all the hurt and brokenness of his past. He learns that no matter how broken you are, God is always our only living hope. ‘Born To Win’ shows how God turns the hurt, frustration & emptiness of a man into hope, faith & victory to inspire many to be the winners they were born to be.
South Africa’s talented, rising star, Greg Kriek, makes his debut in his first feature film playing the lead role of Leon Terblanche alongside leading actress Leoné Pienaar who plays Elmarie Terblanche. This is Leone’s second lead role in a feature film. Award-winning actors and actress’s such as Sylvia Mdunyelwa-Kobus, Dorette Potgieter and Anrich Herbst are part of the talented cast together with Grace Sithole, Kwezi Kobus, Merlin Balie, Cobus Venter, Tim Theron, Leandie du Randt and the much loved Nadia Beukes. This extremely talented cast delivers such an honest performance; it brings to life this true story so authentically, making it so tangible for the viewer.
With the cinematography skills of Jorrie van der Walt, the film has a classic and solid look to it. Filmed along the stunning Garden Route, this proved the perfect location, as the movie covers three decades; the 1970’s, 1980’s and 2000’s. The city council and mayor of George gave tremendous support to make the film possible.
Frans and Cobus believe that the cast and crew have put together not only a work of art, but a ministry tool that represents a true story about real people that will inspire and change lives all over the world.
Cronjé reports that “Since we released Faith like Potatoes in 2006, over 3 million DVDs have now been sold worldwide in 17 languages. We still receive weekly e-mails from people all over the world that are being impacted by the movie. If you enjoyed Faith like Potatoes then you’ll also enjoy ‘Born To Win’.”
‘Born To Win’ was released on South African cinemas nationwide on the 15th August 2014.
‘Born To Win’ will be released in the USA on 19 January 2016!
